Hey;
I'm new to the forum but not to video production. I've been in the business for quite a while, live broadcasts, editing, shooting, animation etc...
It's really nice to have a place like this to come to for questions and answers.
Now to my real question. Does anyone know of any VT parties or gatherings at NAB this year? Is anyone planning on going? I'd like to hear anyone with some lowdown on activites at NAB.
Thanks
SBowie

Here's a link to one thread about Toast03 at NAB this year, as posted to the old NewTek forum. In case the link becomes defunct I'll take the liberty of copying some of the relevant remarks from Ted Ruiz, the organizer, below as well:
Toast03 info (http://forums.newtek.com/discus/messages/4/36693.html?1043252854)
____________
Now that we’re all done with the “holidaze”, here is the latest on “Toast 03”.
The event is on Monday, April 7th, 2003. From 6pm-11:45pm
Las Vegas MGM. Premier Ballroom # 311 (This is in the main Convention Hall on Koval Lane).
Please, ASAP, send donations by Check to Ad-Venture Video Productions, c.o. “Toast 03”. A complete donor list will be available that night to confirm your donation and see who helped out. Don’t you want to see your name posted?
For questions or suggestions, e-mail me at ted@editbay.tv
Please send any Prize Donation info to captg@lvcm.com
There is more info posted at http://www.virtualsetworks.com/Toast03.htm (Thanks Eric Pratt)
Traditionally there is a lot of useful information about NewTek Products shared at this event, not just the Toaster. Dan Ablan has offered to give a LightWave demo if we can get him a workstation. Eric Pratt will be showing off his Franken Toaster as well as Chroma Key and Effects demos. Countless Toaster veterans will be there sharing tips and tricks. But most importantly, we all get to meet in person, those we share info with on the forums. As well as build a stronger NewTek family.
Some Munchies will be provided and I’m hoping to add another Bartender, (if donations show up quickly).
There should be plenty of great prizes to be given out. Several people offering prizes have already contacted me. I’ll try and get a list updated as they roll in.
I’ve been informed that many Toaster users still aren’t aware of the Party. (My bad).
Please pass on this info to any user groups I’ve missed and any NewTek product users you know.
Please relay the need for donations, as this is NOT a NewTek sponsored event. It is totally sponsored by us users and therefore, I’m relying on YOU to help in keeping this an annual event. Last year was far better than I imagined thanks to this fantastic family. I’m anticipating within a few years N.A.B. will become known as T.O.A.S.T.
OK, a little far fetched, but I know of a couple competitors that were VERY impressed with the user-sponsored party NewTek got from their customers last year!!!
Thanks for everyone’s help with this event.
Thanks Steve for passing it on.
Wavinman, welcome to the Family.
How long have you been using NewTek products?
I've used them for several years, but only personally bought into the Toaster about a year ago.
The best part of the Toaster is this group of dedicated users who have added GREAT value to my Toasters. I'm sure you'll be pleased too.
Last year the party started with a few of us wanting to get together at a Bar or Restaurant. Before I knew it, it became a huge event with hundreds of NewTek product users.
Even Dick Van Dyke showed up to give away a Toaster donated by NewTek. There were also dozens of other door prizes given out.
This year should be better since I've had a little more time to put it together.
Again, welcome, and I'm looking forward to meeting you at Toast 03. Pass it on.
