Dear VT users,
As I am sure that many of you have imagined, on the video software team we have been slaving away on VT[5]. This is turning out to be a very cool version of the product with a huge number of new features.
Indeed, the new and improved feature list is over 6 pages long. We have been running a relatively small beta testing program up to this point and feel that the builds are sufficiently good enough that we are getting close to our first Release Candidate version. Given this, we want to expand our beta program to include more users, and now is your chance to participate.
In order to qualify to participate you need to fit the following criteria :
You are a VT[4] user who is eligible for a free VT[5] upgrade, or you have already purchased your VT[5] upgrade.
You must have some time available to help us test the product, and understand the basics of making a good bug report.
You are prepared to install VT[5] on your VT machine, this might or might not work well with a co-existing VT[4] installation.
You will sign an NDA with NewTek.
In order to become part of this program, you need to take the following steps :
Submit a bug report from any of the these products : VT[4.6], SpeedEDIT 1.2, TriCaster STUDIO to our bug database (https://secure.newtek.com/fogbugz/default.asp?pg=pgPublicEdit&ixProject=8).
Provide a full description of the bug, and a set of clear steps to reproduce it. Ensure that you enter your email address in the bug report so that we can contact you. A good guide on writing bug reports can be found here (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html) (this link is helpful, although it makes it look terribly hard ... all we really need is to know how to understand your problem, then find and duplicate it and finally understand what you expected it to do instead.)
Please put your VT[4] serial number in the bug report.
We will take the best 100 bug reports and those users will be added to the VT[5] beta.
If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to email me. (across@newtek.com)
