After a recent crash and reformat I had to reinstall Tmpg and now it's slower than whale dung. Before it was using upwards of 90% of my CPU. Now it's hangin' around 50% and is telling me it's gonna take 4 hours to render a 90 minute clip. Anybody know what's going on??

Sorry, don't know, haven't seen that.

Do you mean using the TMPGEnc plug-in with VT[4]?

If so, try reinstalling the Third-party support plug-ins.

Did you reset your preferences back to what they were?

They may have defaulted to a slower cache drive and lacking optimizations.

Honestly Jim, I have searched all the TMPg settings and can't find anything relating to optimization or cache drive.

Here's something else that is odd, whilst rendering in TMPg this afternoon I brought a clip into a piece I was editing, as it conformed I watched my CPU useage drop to between 35 and 40. Now why would it drop when I was doing something to tax the system more

I can't quite remember where it is on 2.5, (not sure which version you are using) but on 3 and 4 it's under Options->Preferences.

"Temp File" for you cache. (point to fastest drive) and CPU tab for optimizations.

Not sure if it has anything ot do with your problem tho.

Good Luck,
Jim
