I am getting disappointed with Newtek. Last November, my VT card died and they sent me one in December. In January, that card died (VT4 could not communicate with the card, reseat the card and to be sure the drivers were installed). I sent it back for another and got one in February. Since I was using SE this year, I was not even going to touch the Toaster until all of my projects were finished. Well, yesterday, they were completed. I put the card in my SUpermicro Server board. I installed VT4 and 4.6 update. I tried to run VT4 and got the VT4 could not communicate with the card, reseat the card and to be sure the drivers were installed error message. I re-seated the card and still, nothing. I moved the card to another slot and still, nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and still nothing.

Juts to satisfy my curiosity, I stuck in various pci cards (lan, sound, ide controller) and all of them were instantly picked up by Windows and worked. So, I know that the slots are fine.

I installed everything correctly. All connections, daughter card, power connectors, SX8 connectors. The card is simply dead. Three bad cards in 4 months. I am not so confident in NT's QA department. THis is so inconvenient. My server is rack mounted and heavy as hell. I am tired of going through this. I emailed NT and I told them they should be paying for the return shipping this time. They refused last year even though they sent me a bad card. We'll see if they do it this time. I do not see why I have to spend $15 a pop to have my card replaced by another bad one and another.

Have any of you had bad luck with more than one card? My original card lasted 6 years. So far, both replacements are bad. One lasted a month but this one is DOA!

Tony, I will alert Tech support to this thread. That's a big inconvenience and something we need to get right.

I wonder, though, what other companies would replace 6-year old computer hardware for you...for free? ;)

I agree with you about other companies not replacing a 6 year old card for free. But, one of the reasons why I went with NT was for that very reason otherwise I probably wouldnt have paid tthe %1500 or $1955 (I forgot) forthe card. So, as grateful as I am for their warranty policy, it would work out much better for me if I didnt have to go through a few cards to get a good one. I'm sure my situation is not typical but it sure bites to be the exception.
