I have a few questions as I am gearing up to putting my VT5 back into production. (Hopefully Jef will be available soon to assist with hardware.)
Can the VT5 do Flash (push/pull) Streaming like the Tricaster?
I'm assuming that there is still not an trade-in path for VT5 owners, with VTPro card, to go with a Tricaster. Correct?
I see the Tricaster is getting some new hardware. Will we be getting new VT accessories, or is it safe to purchase the current RS-8 and SX-84?
Thanks,
John...

If the answers to my questions are on the site or forums already, please let me know where. I just seem to keep finding a lot of new stuff out or coming soon for the Tricaster but not much activity for our VTs.
Thanks,
John...
1. I'm not sure about Flash, but it can do push/pull now for Windows Media.
2. I'm not aware of a trade-in path for VT going to TriCaster either. NewTek will have to answer that one for you.
3. I think you are probably okay with the SX-84, but you may want to wait for the new LiveControl panel to be patched in for the VT. That has more buttons, and more buttons are usually more fun. It has quite a bit more functionality than the old RS-8.

Thanks for the reply Kris.
Yes, I'm pretty sure there is no chance for upgrade/side-grade to the Tricaster, but I thought I would ask (again.)
I'll hold off on the RS-8 I saw on special. Perhaps it is cheaper because of the LC-11 coming soon.
Just wish I could find some current info on what is going on with our VT. Hate to spend 6-10k getting all setup and then see that the Tricaster is THE focus.
Thanks again,
John...

As for Flash, the VT output is available as a Windows video source, so you can stream in any format for which streaming software is available that runs under Windows. If you stream in Windows Media, you don't need to run any extra streaming software, because there is a module to send out the stream right from within the VT suite.

well... cough cough... ummm.... cough...
your 'THE' in the last sentence, should probably have been bold and maybe a size or two larger...
;)
Just saying Tricaster seems to definitely be the main focus of NT video at the moment, with VT updates spinning off of TC additions...
This (http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/flashmediaencoder/) is the free Adobe software that lets you stream flash. Works very much like Windows Media Encoder. Integrates with VT nicely as Bill mentioned.

Thank you Bill and Jim for the replies.
Doesn't look like the VTPro card and VT5 software (used,) sells very good. At least not at a reasonable price for me. :)
Must meditate and seek solution. :)

Hi John,
There are a few guys sitting on used VT cards for sale I believe.
Maybe post a 'Looking for' in the For Sale/To Buy section here.
Some guys might come forward that don't have a public listing.
Just a thought.

Ok, I'll take another peak there Jim. In case I wasn't clear, I have a brand new VTPro card with VT 3, 4 and 5 already. Just not a box (computer) to drive it.
Thanks again,
John...
